Inspired by a series of photographs by photographer and ethnologist Jimmy Nelson.
The series is part of a bigger series titled "Before They Pass Away" were he wanted to create awareness about our world’s indigenous cultures through his photography, portraying how they live.
The series I chose is about the Gauchos in Argentina. I wanted to analyze the types of context, people and activities the photos show and how the transmit a type of feeling, similar to nostalgia, that almost feels like the situations are too beautiful or unreal to be their "everydayness". This is a (fictional) journal of Nelson responding to a series of critiques after publishing his book.
